The Home Education Campaign

On 19th January 2009 the Government announced a Review into Home Education. The resulting Report was published on 11th June 2009 and a copy can be found here and the Government's response here.

As a result the Government immediately published a consultation Home Education - registration and monitoring proposals. Education Otherwise has prepared a page of information about the Badman Review which includes a summary of the recommendations, frequently asked questions, useful links and a sample letter to your MP. It also gives more information about what EO is doing.

The Education Otherwise main website provides support and information for families whose children are being educated outside school, and for those who wish to uphold the freedom of families to take proper responsibility for the education of their children.

Elective Home Education Guidelines for England were published by DCSF in November 2007. You can read them here.

Education Otherwise has been campaigning for over a year to protect home educating lone parents on Income Support. Home educators are not exempt from new regulations which were made on November 24th 2008. We are however assured that the Jobseeker's Allowance regime is flexible enough to allow home educators to be treated "sensitively." Read more here.
